Authority vs. Respect
Forgot where I read this, but wanted to capture it in the exhaust stream.
Being a good manager takes more than authority. An org chart provides that.
Being a good manager takes respect. That can only be earned.

Being accountable
Ran across this great 2004 article from Business Week:
"Many managers think responsibility ends when they
have tell someone else about a problem. Without action, talk is just a
waste of breath."
